Nearly two decades ago, a new business opened in Andover, committed to providing the best service for auto body and vehicle repair in the area. That company was ours – Collision Center of Andover!

On March 14, 2006, we opened our doors at 948 N. Andover Rd. We were thrilled to be located in such a prime location, providing easy access to residents across Andover, other Butler County communities, and even Wichita.

Andover, KS – a Brief History

It’s no wonder Andover is the most populated town in all of Butler County. Even many people who work in Wichita flock to our wonderful town to raise their families.

Our town has roots that go back to the late 19^th century. The area was originally called Minneha, then changed to Cloud City after Mr. Cloud, a local railroad engineer who helped build a railroad through town.

Today, Andover has a population that’s grown to nearly 15,000. However, back when Andover was officially established in 1957, we had a population of just 166. Hugo Epp become our town’s first mayor – he won by just one vote!

Other memorable moments in Andover history:

1967 – First Greater Andover Days Celebration
1968 – Major annexation – the city grew from 500 to 2000 residents
1991 – an F5 tornado killed 13 people and destroyed hundreds of homes
2005-2006 – Andover golf course rated 43^rd best golf course in the country

Leading our Community

Founder and manager of Collision Center of Andover Ben Lawrence is quite a common name around town. That’s what tends to happen when you’re the town’s mayor for more than a decade! Three years before Ben opened the state-of-the-art auto body shop, he was elected mayor. In total, Ben was the Mayor of Andover for four terms, from 2003 to 2019.

When asked by the Butler County Times Gazette why he wanted to help lead this community, Ben replied, “I do it because I love this town.”

Andover Neighbor Businesses

We have been fortunate to have wonderful neighbors doing business alongside our Andover auto body shop here on Andover Road.

Back in 2012, the wonderful The Rusted Rooster opened. What started as a locally owned handmade goods store has evolved to include a cozy coffee shop, helping to keep our team of auto body technicians caffeinated for many years! The Rusted Rooster is regularly voted as a Local Favorite in community polls and was named the Andover Best Business in 2018!

Another great Andover business opened on our street back in 2011. The Music Scene has grown over the past decade to provide many music opportunities and even an events venue! Like Collision Center of Andover, the Music Scene is a family-owned business.

One of the most widely known businesses headquartered in Andover is Vornado, manufacturer of electric fans. The company’s history dates back to the 1920s as a business that was looking to improve airplane propellers.

Like many of our commercial neighbors, Collision Center of Andover is a proud member of the Andover Chamber of Commerce.

Andover is known for many wonderful things. Our schools are the envy of surrounding towns. It’s almost a surprise we are located so close to the largest city in Kansas. Just take a quick 10 mile drive from Wichita, and you will instantly be delighted by the peace and beauty of nature all around us here in Andover.

We have two wonderful public parks – Andover Park and Andover Central Park. Plus some amazing golf courses, like the one at Terradyne Country Club.
